The MAYO Symphony is open to string players ages 8-18. Participants will rehearse weekly and perform at least three concerts per year in Monroe and surrounding counties. Conductor Lauren Bernofsky programs eclectic repertoire, with an emphasis on current musical trends. Auditions for new members are held at the beginning of each semester or by appointment during the semester. For more information, please contact Julia Shannon or click here to leave a message on our website.
Music coaches support the young musicians through coaching sessions and side-by-side playing in rehearsals. Our program is designed to complement private instruction and school ensemble participation.
The MAYO Symphony rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:45-8:30 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church (100 State Road 46, Bloomington 47408.)
MAYO Rock Band
MAYO's Rock Band, led by Nathan Dillon, will build on your musical skills by tackling challenging pieces, working on improvising skills, and exploring different musical styles, including collaboration with the MAYO Symphony. Students should bring open musical minds, eclectic musical tastes, and be ready for anything!
