Symphony & Concertina Orchestras

This full symphonic ensemble is open by audition to interested young string, wind, brass, and percussion players.
Participants rehearse weekly and perform at least one to two concerts each semester in Monroe and surrounding counties. Repertoire is selected by a music committee and includes works by Classical, Romantic and Modern composers.

Players will be placed in the Symphony Orchestra or in the apprentice level ensemble, Concertina.  All players will perform a side-by-side performance at each concert. Younger players will work on mastery of technical skills using adapted or selected Classical pieces.  Symphony players will work on musicianship and mastery of technical skills and perform with the Concerto Competition winners and play the premiere of the annual Composition Competition winner.
