SPRING ORCHESTRA CONCERT
The MAYO orchestra performed a terrific spring concert on Saturday April 26 at 7:30pm in the Bloomington High School North Auditorium. Piano soloist Emile Naoumoff starred with the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20, K 466. And the whole orchestra shone in the John Adams Short Ride in a Fast Machine and the Franck D Minor Symphony. A smaller ensemble gave a lovely account of the Debussy/Schoenberg Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun. The University Elementary School Recorder Club and the Bloomington Bassoon Choir played at intermission. Artwork by area grade school students was on display in the lobby. MAYO JAZZ participants played a great concert on Tuesday April 29 in the Rose Firebay of the John Waldron Arts Center. Combos and soloists--including two up-and-coming young jazz singers--wowed a receptive audience with well-planned arrangements of standards and original music.
Read-a-thon is a Success
This event was held on January 14, 2008 at the Bloomington High School, North campus. MAYO participants and community members played Symphony in d minor by C. Franck. Music, camaraderie and great food all helped to make this event successful. For a copy of the promotional flyer, click here.
