MAYO MUSICIANS INVITED TO TWO DIFFERENT FESTIVALS

Mark your calendars! Some of you may have participated in the podium exchange concert with the Northern Cincinnati Youth Orchestra and Crossroads of America Youth Orchestra last March.  This year, members of NCYO will join CAYO and MAYO for an extended musical weekend on March 23-25 at Indiana State University, Terre Haute consisting of an ice cream social, clinics and rehearsals, attendance at the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra (Saint-Saens Symphony No. 3), and a joint concert performance on Sunday.  Performance pieces include works by Wagner and Tchaikovsky.  Ask Jill for a handout and consider this important opportunity.

Fresno International Youth Orchestra Festival invites your audition tape!

Qualified musicians will be invited to participate in an international youth orchestra with young musicans from California's Central Valley and from around the world.  Application and audition information available at youthorchestrasfresno.org.  Deadline for receipt of application and audition materials is February 15, 2012.  The festival will take place on May 22-27, 2012.

                                      WHAT IS A PREVIEW CONCERT?

MAYO members are invited to participate in offering free preview concerts at the Monroe County Public Library.  This special opportunity offers a "sneak peek" at what the MAYO musicians are preparing for their official concert.  MAYO chamber musicians will also perform too.  This half hour performance takes place during scheduled rehearsal times.  SO, on February 6th, instead of arriving for rehearsal at Boys & Girls Club, please go to the Monroe County Public Library in Bloomington.  The auditorium is open at 5:30 pm for MAYO members to warm-up.  Rehearsal begins at 6:30 pm.  The concert preview is from 7:00-7:30 pm.  Following the conclusion of the preview concert, rehearsal will continue until 9:00 pm.

The February 6th concert is part of our MLK Day outreach where we share the bookmarks made on MLK Day with any patron who wishes to receive one.

This unique and wonderful opportunity will happen again on Monday, April 2nd.
