The Musical Arts Youth Orchestra offers a full symphonic orchestra experience to young musicians in south central indiana. MAYO also offers chamber music coaching through its Chamber music Program and jazz combo experience through its Jazz Program. |
Concert News UPCOMING MAYO CONCERTS Friday, November 21, 7:30pm, Bedford North Lawrence Performing Arts Center, 595 Stars Blvd, Bedford Saturday, November 22, 7:00pm, Bloomington High School North, 3901 N Kinser Pike, Bloomington Both concerts are free and open to the public. A donation of $5 is suggested. Program: Bernstein, Overture to Candide MAYO Concerto Competition Winners! MAYO members Brian Allen, violin, and Young Hoon Koh, cello, are the winners of the most recent MAYO Concerto Competition, held Saturday September 6, 2008. They will both be performing with the orchestra on its first concert on Saturday November 22 at 7:00pm in the auditorium at Bloomington High School North. Brian will play the first movement of the Mendelssohn E minor violin concerto, while Youn Hoon will play the Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch. Their solos round out a program that also includes the second symphony by Howard Hanson (the "Romantic") and the overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein. Concerto competition adjudicators were Edmund Cord, James Campbell, and Diane Rivera.
