International Musical Arts Youth Orchestra Festival
The Musical Arts Youth Orchestra invites young musicians 16-25 years of age to audition for its fourth iMAYO International Musical Arts Youth Orchestra Festival, to be held in Bloomington the week of April 10-18, 2011. (Younger students can be accommodated with parental permission.)
Qualified musicians will be invited to participate in an international youth orchestra with young musicians from the Southern Indiana region. The festival will feature master classes with renowned music faculty from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and collective rehearsals for at least two concert performances as the iMAYO Festival Orchestra. Our goal is to create a great musical environment for all concerned, and to allow visiting young musicians to experience the incredible musical wealth available in Bloomington.
We will be accepting approximately 30-35 guest players. Multiple representatives from the same country can be accepted. Existing ensembles may apply. Their audition recordings will be of the ensemble as a whole, and must have been made within the past year. We need primarily strings, with an emphasis on violins and violas. However, superior players of wind and brass instruments can be accommodated. Please inquire!
Auditions: Auditions will be conducted by the Music Director of the Musical Arts Youth Symphony and his staff on the basis of recordings sent by applicants.
10+ Violins 4-6 Violas 4-5 Cellos (instruments can be provided) 1-2 Basses (instrument will be provided) 1-2 Clarinets (must have both A & B) 1-2 French Horns (transposition fluency required)

Two excerpts of a prepared solo that shows your technical capabilities and your lyric phrasing abilities (the two excerpts should be no more than 4 minutes combined. Approximate timing is acceptable.)
