Musical
Arts Youth Orchestra Music
Director Thomas Loewenheim
is completing his doctorate at
the Indiana University School of
Music, where he studied cello
with Professors Janos Starker
and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and
conducting under Professor David
Effron.
Mr.
Loewenheim has enjoyed an
international career as both
soloist and chamber musician.
The recipient of numerous awards
for his cello playing and his
scholarship, Mr. Loewenheim also
spent three years as director of
the Memorial Chamber Orchestra
at Memorial University in
Newfoundland, Canada.
Mr.
Loewenheim is also establishing
an increasingly prominent
reputation as a teacher.
He is currently teaching for the
Indiana University String
Academy and is frequently
invited to give master classes
around Canada, the United
States, and in Israel.

Tasha
Warren began playing the
clarinet at age 10 in Davidson,
North Carolina and three years
later began studies with Robert
Listokin at the North Carolina
School of the Arts in
Winston-Salem, where she
completed her high school
education. She earned her BM and
MM in clarinet performance at
Indiana University in the
studios of James Campbell, Eli
Eban, and studied additionally
with Alfred Prinz and Howard
Klug. She has performed in
master classes of Richard
Stolzman, Gervase dePeyer, John
Bruce Yeh and Michel Arrignon.
Ms. Warren is
especially active as a performer
of contemporary music, having
performed numerous premieres of
both solo clarinet and chamber
music. She has performed
extensively with the I.U. New
Music Ensemble, Midwest
Contemporary Consort and MOSAIC
(piano, clarinet quartet), at
June in Buffalo, Banff, and
Scotia Festivals. She has
recorded with the Slovak Radio
Orchestra (Innova Records), Alba
Records, SCI Records, I.U. New
Music Ensemble, Hal Leonard
Productions and CBC Radio. Her
recording of David Dzubay’s
Clarinet Concerto “American
Midlife” with the Slovak Radio
Orchestra was released in April
of 2005.
Currently,
Ms. Warren performs as a
freelance artist and orchestral
musician, maintaining a private
teaching studio in Bloomington,
IN. She is currently pursuing
her Doctorate of Music at
Indiana University and serves as
Chamber Music Director for the
Musical Arts Youth Orchestra and
chamber music coach for New
World Youth Orchestra in
Indianapolis.

Jazz Program coordinator Pat
Harbison
Trumpeter Pat Harbison has
been a member of the Indiana
University jazz faculty since
1997. His solo CD, After All, is
also on the WholeTone label.
Harbison also performs with the
IU Jazz Faculty and as a member
of Jamey Aebersold's All-star
Quintet. He travels
internationally as a jazz
trumpet artist and educator.
