Show your enthusiasm for your instrument and section by joining MAYO! All players are encouraged to join. We have coaches waiting to help. Just come to a rehearsal on Monday, 6:45 pm, at BHSN. MAYO students participated in two well-received concerts in November in Bedford and Martinsville, Indiana. Students had the opportunity of working with high orchestra members from these regions in a truly inspiring and collaborative concert series. The concert halls were teaming with proud parents and community members, some of whom announced, this was their first classical concert experience. Kudos to Jose Valencia, Tamara Dworetz and Paul Kim for a job well done. New this year, MAYO is requiring all MAYO members to complete a School Music Participation form. These forms are due this week. Please bring them to rehearsal. Anyone who does not submit a participation form will not be allowed to perform in the MAYO concerts. The fall auditions will take place at Indiana University, Music Addition in MA107, Professor Edmund Cord's studio. Practice rooms are located on the same floor. Signing up for a seating audition is simple. Register for date / time online under the Seating Auditions tab. Online registration is available too. To protect our families, a passcode is necessary to access any registration information. The passcode will work until September 10th. Excerpts are required for the seating audition. New and returning MAYO members and families are invited to join MAYO Board Members at a potluck picnic on June 27 from 2-4 pm at Paynetown Shelter, Lake Monroe State Park. Bring your beach gear, picnic food, and MAYO will provide some boating fun and activities. RSVP is required (you can rsvp up to June 26). The MAYO Board of Directors is seeking new members. Now is the time to let us know how you want to be involved --- membership requires a commitment to attend at least 4 board meetings a year, attendance at MAYO events, and to take an active role in one area that interests you most such as concert planning, marketing, or music committee. MAYO will be switching to spring auditions. Some parents were confused by this switch. We decided to change the audition time frame to help with summer planning. We will be able to pick the repertoire sooner, provide parts in early August, and make crucial decisions about the orchestra rehearsal structure. If you can make the dates, perfect! If you are a returning MAYO member can cannot make the audition, please send an email to kristen@mayomusic.org and we will count you in on next year's roster. Seating auditions will take place in August. We will also hold another round of new student auditions in August. It's important to hear everyone - new and returning student --- so be sure to schedule a time. We plan on doing on-site auditions in Morgan County again this year. | MAYO Office Staff
